Cultural Heritage PrecinctCultural Heritage Precinct
Cherbourg has a population of over 2000 people and is located within the Wakka Wakka & Gubbi Gubbi tribal boundaries. Many people from many tribes were brought into the settlement during the "Early Days", thus having major significance to our cultural & historical connection to the birth of our hometown,Cherbourg.

Back in the early 1920's, the cherbourg people had goals, plans and aspirations to make a better name for Cherbourg and the people of the past, the present and the future. Many expectations were made of this place but our elders had the knowledge, strength and self-determination to manage our own welfare on this settlement.

Cherbourg is best renowned for producing talented athletes who have done well and succeeded in sports such as Boxing, Cricket, Rugby League and Touch Football and last but not least, Short and Long Distance Running.

The Cultural Heritage Precinct welcomes all visitors to experience and embrace the community's lifestyle and people, to view photographs and watch video footages to show and tell how much has changed since then. They also have preserved documentations of cherbourg's history.
