COUNCIL NOTICE
TO ALL TENANT – REGARDING POOLS:
All residents are to be notified that POOL SAFETY LAWS apply in all Local Government areas including Cherbourg. As a tenant of CASC Housing, it also applies to you, if your pool meets any of the following criteria listed below:-
- YOUR POOL HAS A WATER DEPTH OF MORE THAN 300MM
- THE VOLUME OF WATER IN YOUR POOL IS MORE THAN 2,000L
- THE POOL HAS A FILTRATION SYSTEM
If your pool DOES meet any of the above criteria you MUST have a pool fence erected with a secure gate. This is to stop unsupervised children from entering the pool area without an adult or supervisor present. Your pool will also need to be registered at poolsafety@qbcc.qld.gov.au. If you need help to register your pool, please drop into the Council Office and we will help you register.
Local Governments have the power to investigate compliance with pool safety standards and can issue fines. In view of this if your pool does not meet the pool safety standards you will be requested to pull your pool down immediately. If you have any questions relating to this matter please contact Council’s Housing Manager.
We request that you as the tenant co-operate with us and made sure that your pool meets all the safety standards.
