New Housing Development Proposal Notice
Community Consultation Notice:
Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council advise the proposed demolition of an existing structure at street numbers 2-4 Alan Douglas Ave (previously known as 5 Oak St.) Cherbourg to make way for new social housing to be built on the vacant site.
The existing council owned structure (formerly known as the Cherbourg Jail) is considered a risk to the public as it is not maintained, has poor sanitary condition, no heating, potential asbestos, and is in a general state of disrepair. It is for this reason the building will be demolished for future redevelopment. Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council intends to construct residential units on the property – similar in nature to 4a and 4b Fisher St.
Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council Planning Regulations identifies the property as a local heritage site and requires a consultation period (7-day) to allow for any public input.
Input must be received in writing by not later than close of business on Friday 14th October 2022.
