COVID-19 UPDATE: SHort TRIPS into MURGON NOW PERMITTED

COMMUNITY NOTICE Wednesday, April 1, 2020

CORONAVIRUS (COVID-19)

This afternoon, the Biosecurity Officer from Queensland Health Public Health Unit has stated that people from Cherbourg are now allowed to leave the community and go to Murgon to do shopping, put petrol in their cars, and do banking.

We like to apologies to all our community elders and members for the all the inconvenience caused due to Re-Supply issue in our community.

This movement in and out of Cherbourg will be permitted until issues with the stores in Cherbourg are fixed.

Everybody is working together to make sure we meet the needs of the community. Some things may need to change as we learn things and uncover new issues, so please be patient and flexible. This is a new thing for all of us.

At the checkpoint, when people leave, they will be given a direction that they are to go to the shops, and that they must be back within two hours.  While you are in Murgon, it is very important that you follow the social distancing guideline.  That includes being 1.5 meters from another person .  These requirements are to keep protect everyone from this virus, particularly our elders, babies and people who are already sick.

If you fail to comply with those requirements, you may not be allowed back into the community without 14 days isolation.

We want Cherbourg to be safe, for people to get what they need.  We want the people of Cherbourg to stay strong, and for our people to show the world what we can do when we all work together.
