TRUTH TELLING WORKSHOPS in Cherbourg

Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council, on behalf of the Mayor’s Office, warmly invites community members to take part in our upcoming Truth-Telling Workshops.

Morning tea and lunch will be provided.
This will be the first of three Truth-Telling Workshops, providing an important opportunity for community members to come together, share knowledge, listen and contribute to conversations about Cherbourg’s history, experiences and future.

What is Truth-Telling?

Truth-telling involves engaging with a fuller account of Australia’s history and the ongoing impacts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
While truth-telling acknowledges experiences including colonial conflict, massacres and dispossession, it also recognises and celebrates the strength, contributions, resilience and continuing cultures of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We encourage community members to take the time to learn more by reading the Truth-Telling Information Booklet, reviewing the event flyer, and watching the Truth-Telling Forum recording before attending.

🤝 UQ Ethics Committee Information Session

This will also be a double event, with an information session being held by the University of Queensland (UQ) Ethics Committee. This will provide an opportunity for community members to learn more and ask questions about the ethics process and its role in the work being undertaken.

Your voice and participation are important. We encourage Cherbourg community members to come along and be part of these important conversations.

📩 RSVP: Please RSVP to the Mayor’s Executive Assistant at Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council to confirm your attendance.

We look forward to welcoming our community and continuing this important work together.
