Position Vacant – Landfill Operator (Full Time)
Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council is seeking applications for a Full Time Landfill Operator to join our Roads, Civil and Waste team.
This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and environmentally compliant operation of the Cherbourg waste disposal site.
Key responsibilities include:
• Providing customer service to users of the waste facility
• Managing traffic entering and exiting the landfill site
• Inspecting and monitoring waste loads, including identifying prohibited materials
• Ensuring waste is sorted and deposited in the correct areas
• Maintaining a clean and orderly landfill site
• Daily capping of rubbish
• Reporting maintenance or repair needs
• Other duties as directed by the Roads Civil Waste Manager
What we’re looking for:
• Reliable and punctual team member
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Ability to work safely and follow WHS requirements
• Willingness to undertake training
• Current Class C Driver’s Licence (HR licence desirable)
• Skid Steer and Excavator qualifications essential
📍 Location: Council Depot, Fisher Street, Cherbourg
🕒 Hours: Full time – 76 hours per fortnight
