FareShare Brisbane

FareShare’s mission is simple. We utilise food that would otherwise go to waste and cook it into free, nutritious meals for people in crisis. Our vision is for a society where food is not wasted and no one goes hungry.

FareShare operates Australia’s largest charity kitchens and in October 2018, we opened a new, high volume kitchen in Brisbane. The huge kitchen – approximately the size of a basketball court – is equipped with industrial scale food processing equipment including 300 litre electric saucepans which cook 750 meals at a time.

Since then our meals have provided vital support to struggling Queenslanders from people sleeping rough in the city to communities devastated by bushfire.

Our Brisbane kitchen works in collaboration with Foodbank Queensland who supply quality ingredients to make the meals and then distribute them to their existing network of charities.

The multi-million dollar facility powered by volunteers has cooked 2 mllion meals since our launch in October 2018.

OH&S

Food safety is paramount to FareShare. We adhere to local and national food safety guidelines and are fully compliant with occupational health and safety regulations.

Every FareShare staff member is certified first aid trained and epi-pens and defibrillators are on site. Our kitchens are air conditioned for both food safety and volunteer comfort.
