Community grants on offer in latest funding round

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice
The Honourable Yvette D’Ath

Community organisations can apply for funding of up to $35,000 under the latest round of Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF) grants which is now open.

Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Yvette D’Ath urged community groups with not-for-profit objectives to apply for the grants.

“This funding allows our vital community groups to purchase much-needed equipment, upgrade their facilities, host a local event or workshop, and continue delivering important services to diverse sectors across Queensland,” Mrs D’Ath said.

In the most recently announced funding round, more than 660 organisations shared in more than $14 million in grants, including sporting clubs, P&Cs and health services.

“These local groups are the lifeblood of our communities and it’s important that we support them as much as possible,” Mrs D’Ath said.

“In the silver anniversary year of the fund, it’s exciting to hear about the impact these grants have had over the years, with some organisations continuing their services thanks to multiple grants over the fund’s 25-year history.

“We’ve reached another milestone, surpassing 100 funding rounds, and over this time we have provided more than 57,500 grants, totalling almost $900 million.”

Mrs D’Ath encouraged eligible organisations to submit applications through the Gambling Community Benefit Fund online grants portal.

“Grants are available to non-profit community-based organisations, and I encourage those groups to submit their applications from today, and ensure their valuable services, innovative projects or anticipated community events continue to benefit their local area,” she said.

There are now five GCBF funding rounds each year, with grants from $500 to $35,000 on offer.

Eligible organisations have until midnight 31 August 2019 to submit an application.
