CHERBOURG: Stay COVID ALert and COVID SAFE

URGENT – LOCAL COVID UPDATE for Cherbourg Community

As at 3pm 29th June 2021 – Cherbourg will NOT be going into lockdown, however:

Residents are strongly encouraged NOT to travel to any of the affected Local Government areas entering lockdown as of 6pm on Tuesday 29th June 2021.

Residents of Cherbourg are allowed to travel home from the affected areas but must go into isolation when arriving – and if you start showing any flu like symptoms, get tested as soon as possible.

While it is not Mandatory – we are encouraging the use of masks when in public and the usual social distancing and other COVID protocols

Queensland health are encouraging residents to make getting 1st and 2nd COVID vaccinations as a priority (2nd dose must be same as the 1st)

Be aware the Delta variant is what is making up the majority of current cases seen in Queensland at this time  –  it is highly contagious with a five (5) second exposure time for infection, Queensland Health advise younger people are more susceptible to the delta variant and to pass it on

Queensland Police will focus on adherence COVID protocols.

LATEST UPDATE FROM Queensland Health: New restrictions from 6 pm tonight, Tuesday 29 June 2021 until 6pm Friday 2 July 2021

People in local Government Areas of Townsville (including Magnetic Island), Palm Island, Brisbane, Moreton Bay, Ipswich, Logan, Redlands, Sunshine Coast, Noosa, Somerset, Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Gold Coast will only be able to leave their homes for the following reasons:

  • Shopping for essentials, food and necessary supplies
  • Medical or healthcare needs, including compassionate requirements
  • Exercise in your local area
  • Providing care or assistance to an immediate family member
  • Work, or volunteering, or study if it is not reasonably practicable to work or learn remotely
  • Attend funerals with restrictions.

Mask wearing is mandatory and physical distancing arrangement will apply in a range of circumstances. Restrictions on visits to hospitals, aged care and disability accommodation are also in place.

Increased testing

Anyone showing symptoms get tested or having been to any identified area at the timeframes indicated – regardless of whether you have symptoms or not – you should get tested and isolate until results are received. Additional fever clinics and extended opening hours are being mobilised across these areas.
