Keep Cherbourg Safe from COVID-19

BE CLEAN, HEALTHY SMART FOR OUR PEOPLE.

A message from Mayor Arnold Murray – 24th March 2020

Hello, my elders, my people, family and friends and neighbours.

These last few days have seen a lot of changes coming to the way we live our lives here in Cherbourg – and we are all having to adapt and get used to the changes that are taking place.

Whether we like it or not we are part of a challenge – that is confronting the entire planet – it is a challenge affecting not just us – it is affecting our brothers and sister all over Australia — and the rest of the world.

By now you will know about the restricted movement measures that have been brought to our community.

There is only one entry point into Cherbourg – a checkpoint on the Murgon Cherbourg road.

The check point has been installed – and preparations are being made for the checkpoint to become fully operational.

The purpose of this checkpoint is to help prevent COVID-19 virus from entering our Cherbourg community… to keep OUR PEOPLE SAFE

Currently ONLY workers from SERVICES that have been authorised as ESSENTIAL to Cherbourg Community will be able to enter and leave the community.

Local residents can come and go from community for work, to shop or for health appointments.

BUT – if you MUST travel out of Cherbourg, please be sure it is for essential reasons.

If you need to go to the shops – make sure only one person travels in for the shopping.

When you come back into Cherbourg – go straight home, have a shower then change into fresh clothes.

DO YOUR PART!

Maintain good hygiene, make good decisions to protect our community – our people

Right now – we ALL need to work together.

Arnold Murray

Mayor
