Salary: Local Government – Stream A Level 3

$55,000

Reports to Community Services Officer

Description

The purpose of the position is

To ensure the voices of the Cherbourg Community’s Young people are heard, represented values and respected.  That these voices can nurture progressive thinking and leadership developments promoting positive change within the community.  That it may foster relationships between all community generations. 

The Council Department of Community services aims to achieve the following:

  • Connect Community young people with culturally centered activities and projects
  • To provide Council and other key stakeholders with direct and well-informed information on matters relating to young people in the community
  • To ensure decisions made reflect the interests of young people in the community
  • Lead youth initiatives and projects addressing the needs of young people in the community either alone or in partnership with other services and organisations
  • Facilitate the Cherbourg Youth Advisory meetings
  • Implement project outlined in the IYCC Plan

Qualifications

  • Tertiary Qualifications would be highly regarded
  • Very good computer skills – Microsoft office, word, excel, publisher
  • Working with Children Blue Card
  • Qld Drivers Licence
  • Experience in youth work preferable
  • Experience or willingness to work with Indigenous Community
